Grafted vs. Non-Grafted Fruit Saplings: What’s the Difference?
4 Mayıs 2026
The first technical question you face when buying a fruit sapling is usually: grafted or not? This small detail directly affects fruit quality, tree size and lifetime productivity.
Grafted Saplings
In a grafted sapling the rootstock handles soil adaptation, while the scion above determines the fruit variety. The result: a robust root system carries a known, guaranteed cultivar. Every fruit sapling we produce at Bozdağ Fidan is grafted onto a certified clonal rootstock.
Non-Grafted Saplings
A non-grafted (seedling) sapling grows from a seed and its fruit is unpredictable; it often shows wild traits. Rarely chosen for home orchards.
Which Rootstock Suits You?
- Dwarf: Small gardens, intensive orchards
- Semi-dwarf: Medium home gardens
- Standard: Large area, long life
